I've just learned that John Darling died this morning.

John wrote some very good stuff on sea angling that influenced my early
thinking on the subject. Latterly he was, perhaps, better known for his
writing on air gun hunting, through his regular articles in various shooting
periodicals. He was a brilliant photographer and, in recent years, I spent
more than several happy hours in his company at the Golden Galleon, at
Exceat Bridge.

Go well, John.

I have to say that I have had to come back to read this again, in fact
twice.
All through the years JD has influenced and motivated me and although I've
never met him, his death really dose feel like a great loss. On many
occasions when I've been to bone idle to get out and do some shooting, I've
popped to the newsagents and grabbed a copy of Airgunner, specifically to
read JD's article.
He is a great loss to the whole of the shooting world.

A fine writer. If there really is a happy
hunting ground he'll be there.

As most of you know I'm a lurker, but I would like to echo what most of you
have said, John Darling wrote some great pieces about hunting with air
weapons..Doesn't seem fair.

I knew him myself too Tony. The Golden Galleon has a number of his photo's
on the wall.
Goodbye John. I for one will not forget you.
